DOH nakapagtala ng 568 kaso ng pertussis, 40 namatay
Nakapgatala ang Department of Health (DOH) ng 568 kaso ng pertussis sa bansa simula noong Enero 1 hanggang nitong Marso 16.
Sa naturang bilang, 40 ang kumpirado nasawi dahil sa whooping cough o grabe na pag-ubo simula din noong Enero
“The medical field has known about pertussis for a long time now. We have antibiotics that can treat it. Vaccines are safe and effective against whooping cough; DOH is redistributing on-hand doses to where they are needed the most,” sabi ni Health Sec. Teodoro Herbosa.
Nabatid na 27 porsiyento ng mga kaso ay naitala sa Metro Manila at marami din sa Calabarzon, Mimaropa,Western Visayas at Central Visayas Regions.
Nagpahayag ng pagkabahala ang kawanihan dahil marami sa mga kaso ay sa mga sanggol na may edad anim na buwan pababa at ito ayon sa DOH ay 62.7 porsiyento ng kabuuang bilang.
Marami din sa mga tinamaan na sanggol ay walang bakuna.
