18 Pinoy seafarers ng sinakop na oil tanker nakauwi na

Nakabalik na sa bansa ang 18 Filipino seafarers na sakay ng oil tanker ST Nikolas na inagaw ng Iranian Navy. (INQUIRER PHOTO)

Kinumpirma ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) na ang 18 Fillipino seafarers ng oil tanker ST Nikolas ay nakabalik na ng bansa.

Sa pahayag ng kawanihan, ang huling anim sa 18 ay nakauwi noon pang nakaraang linggo.

“The Philippine government thanks the authorities of Iran for their understanding in this matter and appreciates the work of the manning agency which made this possible,” ang pahayag ng DFA.

Nananatili naman sa Iran ang oil tanker matapos itong isasalalim ng Iranian Navy sa kanilang kustodiya noon pang Enero bilang ganti sa pagkumpiska ng US sa karga nitong langis noong 2023.

Samantala, nagpapatuloy naman ang negosasyon para sa pagpapalaya ng 17 marinong Filipino na sakay ng Galaxy Leader na na-hijack ng Houthi rebels sa Red Sea noong nakaraang Nobyembre.

“The Philippines continues to work with our friends and partners, including through the UN system, to address the situation in the Red Sea involving 17 Filipino seafarers,” ang X post naman ni Foreign Affairs Sec. Enrique Manalo.

“We assure their families that all is being done so that the seafarers will finally be able to return home,” dagdag pa niya.
