Posible na makaranas ng mas maraming bagyo sa huling tatlong buwan ng taon dahil sa La Niña, ayon sa Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
Sa briefing sa Malakanyang, sinabi na maaring 13 hanggang 16 bagyo ang pumasok sa bansa ngayon taon na mababa pa sa 19 hanggang 20 na kadalasan nararanasan.
Ngunit dahil sa La Niña maaring mas maraming bagyo ang maranasan sa mga buwan ng Oktubre hanggang Disyembre.
“So that is why there is a possibility that during the last quarter of this year, it is possible that we will have quite a few typhoons. So our preparation time is little since the chances of developing a typhoon during La Nina are closer to our land,” ayon sa DOST.
Ayon kay DOST Sec. Renato Solidum Jr., tumataas na ang posibilidad ng pagkakaroon ng La Niña sa mga susunod na buwan.
“In the coming season, there is a 62 percent chance of La Niña developing by June or August this year, and that percentage increases as we move to the latter half of the year,” sabi pa ng kalihim.
