Inaprubahan na ngayon hapon sa Senado ang panukalang maglilipat sa pangangasiwa ng mga provincial jails sa Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
Labing-siyam na senador ang bumoto pabor sa Senate Bill (SB) No. 2352 or the Jail Integration Act, na inisponsoran ni Sen. Bato dela Rosa.
“Indeed, by turning over the management and supervision of provincial and sub-provincial jails from the provincial governments to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, those jails stand to benefit, not only from the expertise and world-class standards that the BJMP sets for itself but more importantly from the BJMP’s national programs,” ani dela Rosa.
Dagdag pa ng senador mababawasan na rin ng intindihin ang mga lokal na pamahalaan.
Bukod pa dito aniya, ang pondo para sa pangangasiwa ng provincial jails at maaring magamit na mga lokal na pamahalaan sa kanilang mga programa at proyekto.
Ang mga kawani ng provincial jails ay maaring mailipa sa BJMP depende sa kanilang mga kuwalipikasyon.
