MM LGUs hinikayat na kumilos sa pagtitipid ng tubig dahil sa El Niño

Hinimok ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ang mga lokal na pamahalaan sa Metro Manila na kumilos para maibsan ang epekto ng El Niño.
Una nang naaprubahan ng Metro Manila Council (MMC) ang ilang hakbangin para mabawasan ang epekto ng El Niño hindi lamang sa pangongolekta ng tubig-ulan, pagtitipid ng tubig sa golf courses at car wash shops, wastewater recycling, pagsasaayos ng mga sirang tubo at paggawa ng water filtration systems. Sinabi ni acting MMDA Chairman Don Artes may mga disenyo na para sa rainwater catchment system at ito ay ibabahagi nila sa mga lokal na pamahalaan. “We will distribute these designs to the 17 Metro Manila LGUs in support of the water mitigation measures that they will come up with in their respective cities and municipality, depending on the needs in their areas,” ani Artes. Pinawi din ang mga pangamba na kakapusin ang suplay ng tubig sa Metro Manila dahil inanunsiyo na ng Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) na hindi kakailanganin ang pagrarasyon ng tubig dahil sapat ang alokasyon sa water concessionaires.
