Sinehan inaasahang tatangkilikin muli sa suspensyon ng amusement tax
Pumayag ang mga alkalde ng Metro Manila na suspindihin muna ang amusement tax sa pagpapalabas ng mga pelikulang Filipino sa mga sinehan.
Sinabi ni Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Don Artes na base sa resolusyon na inaprubahan ng Metro Manila Council (MMC), tatlong taon na hindi sisingil ng amusement tax ang mga lokal na pamahalaan.
Ito aniya ay para mapagaan ang gastusin ng film producers at kasabay nito ang pagtangkilik muli sa mga sinehan.
“In support of the resolution, they will amend their respective local revenue codes to waive the amusement tax for Filipino movies exhibited in Metro Manila from January 8 to December 24 of every year for the next three years,” ani Artes. Una nang ibinahagi ng Film Development Council of the Philippines, sa pamamagitan nin director Jose Javier Reyes na buagsak ang industriya ng pelikula sa bansa. Sinabi pa ni Reyes na sa kasagsagan ng pandemya tinangkilik ang video streaming platforms, namayagpag ang “piracy” at nakapag-ambag din ang buwis sa mga pelikula.
