EDSA Shrine hiniling na makilala bilang national shrine
Umaasa si Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) president Bishop Pablo Virgilio David na mabigyan ng “national shrine status” ang Archdiocesan Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace o mas kilala bilang EDSA Shrine.
“EDSA Shrine is not just a shrine for the Archdiocese of Manila, but of the entire Philippines,” katuwiran ni David.
Sinuportahan naman ito ni EDSA Shrine Rector Fr. Jerome Secillano, na ibinahaging matagal ng plano ang paghirit na mabigyan ng pambansang pagkilala ang simbahan.
“We are grateful with the statement that the EDSA Shrine can become a national shrine,” aniya.
Ibinahagi nito na kinilala ng “archdiocesan shrine” ang EDSA Shrine simula nang maitatag ito noong 1989.
Ikinukunsiderang ito isa sa mga palatandaan ng 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution.
