Higit P155M natangay sa mga Filipino sa money scams, modus noong 2023

Sa unang walong buwan ng nakaraang taon, higit 8,000 Filipino ang nabiktima ng ibat-ibang scams at modus at natangayan sila ng higit P155 milyon.

Binanggit ito ni Sen. Mark Villar sa kanyang pag-sponsor sa Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act or AFASA.

Ang pinaghirapan ng ating mga kapwa Pilipino na para sana sa kanilang pang-araw-araw na gastusin ay ninanakaw lamang ng mga scammers. These are heinous crimes against our people, Mr. President and it is upon us to ensure that they will be put to a stop as soon as possible,” sabi ni Villar.

Ayon pa sa namumuno sa Senate Committee on Banks dapat ay bigyang kapangyarihan ang financial institutions, partikular na ang mga bangko, na silipin o busisiin ang accounts na may mga kahina-hinala o kadududang transkasyon.

“The AFASA will provide safety measures that will go after financial cybercrimes, such as being a money mule, committing social engineering schemes, and economic sabotage. Afasa also provides the responsibility of responsible institutions to protect and secure their clients’ financial accounts,” dagdag pa ng senador.

Mabilis naman na nagpahayag ng kanilang suporta sa panukalang batas sina Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, Sens. Sherwin Gatchalian, Grace Poe, Bong Revilla, at Jinggoy Estrada.
