UN Rapporteur Irene Khan sa gobyerno: Hindi dapat balat sibuyas sa mga puna, banat
Sa pagtatapos ng kanyang 10 araw na pagbisita sa Pilipinas, ibinahagi ni United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur Irene Khan na dapat ay hindi maging balat sibuyas ang gobyerno sa mga batikos at puna.
Kailangan aniya na mas maging mapagparaya ang mga opisyal ng gobyerno maging sa mga bagay hindi nila gusto.
“The whole concept of freedom of expression is to be able to say what you want, even if it offends the other side,” ayon sa UN rapporteur on freedom of opinion and expression.
Bumisita sa ibat-ibang dako ng bansa si Khan at nakipag-usap sa ilang mamamahayag at aktibista.
“Tolerance is a very important quality for the state in order to protect and uphold freedom of expression,” sabi pa nito.
Ikinalungkot niya ang pagsasara ng ABS-CBN, gayundin ng CNN Philippines kamakailan.
