“Strong El Niño” posible hanggang sa Pebrero – PAGASA
May posibilidad na magpatuloy hanggang sa susunod na buwan ang nararamdamang “strong and mature” El Niño sa ilang bahagi ng bansa, ayon sa Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Pagbabahagi ni PAGASA Climatology and Agrometeorology Division (CAD) Senior Weather Specialist Rusy Abastillas na maaring umabot na sa pinakamatindi ang El Niño mula ngayon buwan hanggang sa Pebrero.
At ayon naman kay Weather Specialist II na hanggang buwan na ang kasalukuyang kondisyon ay aabot hanggang sa susunod na buwan.
Sinabi ng PAGASA na karamihan sa global climate models maaring magtagal ang El Niño hanggang sa Marso o Abril.
“It will gradually go back to normal by April, May, and June,” sabi ni Ruiz.
Mula ngayon buwan hanggang Abril, tinataya ng PAGASA ang “generally way below to below-normal rainfall” sa maraming lugar sa bansa.
