PBBM sinabing inirerespeto ng Pilipinas ang “One China” policy

Tiniyak ni Pangulong Marcos Jr., na patuloy na kinikilala at inirerespeto ng Pilipinas ang “One China” policy.

Ayon pa kay Pangulong Marcos Jr., hindi iniendorso ng bansa ay kalayaan ng Taiwan.

Sa isang panayam sa telebisyon, sinabi ng Punong Ehekutibo na ikinagulat niya ang naging reaksyon ng China sa ginawa niyang pagbati kay Taiwan President-elect Lai Ching-te.

“The One China policy remains in place. We have adhered to the One China policy strictly and conscientiously since we adopted the one China policy. And that has not changed. That will not change. We are not endorsing Taiwanese’ independence. Taiwan is a province of China but the manner in which they will be brought together again is an internal matter,” dagdag pa nito.

Sa naturang polisiya, ang tanging kinilala ng Pilipinas na Chinese government ay ang People’s Republic of China (PROC).

Nilinaw ni Marcos na kortesiya lamang kay Ching-te ang kanyang mensahe ng pagbati sa huli.

“Very simple lang ang ano ko diyan. Noong naging presidente ako, binati ako. So, what do you do? It is just a common courtesy to do the same for them. That’s really where it came from,”sabi pa ni Marcos.
