73% ng Pinoy gusto ng aksyon ng militar sa WPS issue
May 73 porsiyento ng mga Filipino ang nagsabing dapat ay paigtingin pa ng administrasyon ang aksiyong militar sa pagharap sa agawan ng teritoryo sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Base ito sa resulta ng “Tugon ng Masa” survey na isinagawa ng OCTA Research noong nakaraang Disyembre 10 hanggang 14 at may 1,200 respondents.
Itinanong sa survey kung ano ang mga hakbang na dapat gawin ng gobyerno sa pakikipagharap sa isyu sa WPS.
“The percentage of adult Filipinos who prefer asserting the Philippines’ territorial rights through military action defined as expanded naval patrols and troop presence in the West Philippine Sea increased by seven percentage points since the third quarter 2023 TNM Survey conducted last October 2023,” ayon sa inilabas na pahayag ng OCTA Research.
“It must be noted that this is the first time ‘asserting the Philippines’ territorial rights through military action’ as a priority measure overtakes the top-ranked measure in previous TNM surveys, which is ‘asserting the Philippines’ territorial rights through diplomacy and other peaceful methods,’” pagpupunto pa ng OCTA.
May 70 porsiyento naman aang nagsabi na idaan sa diplomasiya at mapayapang paraan ang pagharap sa isyu at 66 porsiyento ang sumagot na kailangan pang mamodernisa at mapalakas ang kapabilidad ng hukbong sandatahan ng bansa.
Ang mga nagsabing kailangan ng joint maritime patrols and exercises ay 42 porsiyento, maging ang pagpapalago sa rehiyon (37 porsiyento) ay naging suhestiyon sa survey.
