House probe sa SC, PWD discounts ipinakakasa ni Speaker Martin Romualdez
Maraming mga tanong na dapat malinawan ukol sa pagbibigay ng mga diskuwento sa senior citizens at persons with disability (PWD) kayat hiniling ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez na magsagawa ng pagdinig sa Kamara.
“Maraming tanong ang ating mga senior citizen at PWDs, bibigyan natin sila ng pagkakataon kapag nagsimula na ang pagdinig sa Kongreso,” ani Romualdez.
Aniya marami ng pagkakataon na nalalabag ang RA No. 9994 o ang Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010 at RA 10754 o ang Act Expanding the Benefits and Privileges of PWDs.
“Laws granting benefits to our senior citizens and PWDs should be strictly followed and implemented. And if there are several instances of the improper grant of these privileges and benefits, it becomes the common practice. So it cannot remain unchecked,” aniya.
Binanggit niya ang pagsasampa ng mga kaso laban sa dalawang opisyal ng isang kilalang hotel sa Pasig City dahil sa pagtanggi na bigyan ng 20 porsiyentong diskuwento ang isang senior citizen.
Tiniyak ni Romualdez na sa pagdinig ay malilinawan ang batas, maitatama ang mga maling interpretasyon sa batas at mapapagbuti pa ang pagpapatupad ng RA 9994.
