8 sa bawat 10 Filipino ang ayaw sa POGO – Gatchalian
Base sa resulta ng isang survey, mayorya ng mga Filipino ang tutol na magpatuloy pa ang operasyon ng Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), ayon kay Senator Sherwin Gatchalian.
Sa isinagawang survey ng Pulse Asia noong Disyembre 3 hanggang 7 na may 1,200 respondents, 85 porsiyento ang hindi pabor sa operasyon ng POGOs.
Sa Metro Manila, 82% ang hindi pabor, 88% sa Balance Luzon, 93% sa Visayas, at 75% sa Mindanao ang tutol sa POGO operations.
“This is overwhelming evidence that the majority of our people have realized that POGOs have become a liability and that they support the termination of the industry’s operations in the country,” ani Gatchalian.
Kabilang naman sa pangunahing dahilan ng mga tutol ay ang mga krimen na nauugnay sa POGO, partikular ng Chinese nationals, ang paglaganap ng mga bisyo, ang dumadaming Chinese citizens na nakakapag-trabaho sa bansa, hindi pagbabayad ng POGO ng tamang buwis, kakulangan ng oportunidad para sa mga Filipino at pagtaas ng bayad sa upa.
Nais ng mga tutol na matigil ang POGO operations sa loob ng tatlong buwan.
May anim na porsiyento sa survey naman ang pumabor sa operasyon ng POGO.
