Kolehiyo para sa mga bilanggo sa Davao bubuksan na

Sa susunod na buwan ay mapapakinabangan na ng mga persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) ang bagong tayong College Education Behind Bars (CEBB) sa loob ng Davao Prison and Penal Farm sa City of Panabo, Davao del Norte.

Nabatid na entrepreneruship courses ang iaalok sa naturang kolehiyo at ang gusali ay ginastusan ng P30 milyon.

Ayon kay Bureau of Corrections Dir. Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang nagsimula ang konsruksyon sa gusali noong 2019 mula sa pondo ng Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), Commission on Higher Education (ChEd) at donasyon sa pamamagitan ng Social Entrepreneurship Technology and Business Institute (SETBI).

Dagdag pa ni Catapang, nakipag-ugnayan sa kawanihan ang SETBI noong 2019 para makapag-alok ng “innovative education program” at nagkaroon pa ng memorandum of agreement sa pagitan ng naturang NGO, dating DDB Sec. Catalino Cuy at noon ay BuCor chief at ngayon ay Sen. Ronald dela Rosa.

May dalawang silid-paaralan na inilaan para sa SETBI at may 38 PDLs na nag-enroll na para sa kursong BS Entrepreneruship.

Bukod dito, may Senior High School din na nag-enroll, 40 sa Grade 11 at 10 sa Grade 12.

May isang PDL naman ang nag-enroll sa kursong BS Agriculture Technology.

“This is a good opportunity for PDLs to pursue college education and bring home a college diploma that will equip them and be ready for the outside world once they completed serving their sentence,” ani Catapang.
