US kinumpirma pagdala ng petrolyo sa Subic mula Hawaii
Inamin ng Estados Unidos ang pagdala ng petrolyo mula sa isa kanilang mga military base sa Pearl Harbor sa Hawaii patungo sa dating US military sa Subic, Zambales.
“We can confirm that the Yosemite Trader, a commercial tanker, is currently in the vicinity of Subic Bay, Philippines in order to transfer clean fuel from the U.S. military facility at Red Hill, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, to a commercial storage facility at Subic Bay,” pahayag ni US Embassy spokesperson Kanishka Gangopadhyay.
Aniya isa lamang ito sa maraming pagpapadala ng petrolyo mula sa Red Hill facility sa ibat-ibang lokasyon sa Pasipiko.
Diin niya na ang lahat ay dumaan sa proseso bagamat humingi siya ng paumanhin dahil wala siyang ideya ukol sa paggagamitan ng petrolyo.
“Unfortunately, I can’t speak to future use. I can say that we regularly ship fuel to Subic Bay and various other locations in the region,” aniya.
Unang pinuna ni Sen. Imee Marcos ang pagdala sa Pilipinas ng 39 milyong galon ng petrolyo.
Ayon sa namumuno sa Senate Committee on Foreign Relations hindi maitatanggi ang mga pagdududa na ang naging hakbang ay “pre positioning of military supplies” dahil sa maaring pagsiklab ng digmaan sa pagitan ng US at China dahil sa Taiwan.
