Mula sa pagiging tropical cyclone humina sa pagiging tropical depression ang bagyong Kabayan nang tumama ito sa kalupaan ng Manay, Davao Oriental kaninang umaga.
Ayon sa Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) alas-9:30 nang tumama sa lupa ang bagyo taglay ang lakas ng hangin na 55 kilometro kada oras malapit sa gitna at bugso na aabot hanggang 70 kilometro kada oras.
Sa 11 am tropical cyclone bulletin, halos hindi gumagalaw si Kabayan malapit sa Caraga, Davao Oriental.
Inaasahan na babagtasin nito ang kabundukan ng Mindanao at lalabas sa Sulu Sea ngayon hapon o gabi.
“Due to frictional effects associated with landfall, Kabayan is forecast to further weaken, and the possibility of being downgraded into a low pressure area while over land or after emerging over the sea is not ruled out—although in such a case, re-development may still occur over the Sulu Sea,” ayon sa PAGASA.
Babagtas ito sa direksyon sa timog ng Cagayancillo Islands sa susunod na mga oras.
Bukas ng umaga, inaasahan na lalapag ito sa kalupaan ng gitna o katimugang Palawan bilang tropical depression at lalabas ng West Philippine Sea at maaring dumaan o gumilid sa Kalayaan Islands.
