Villar sa ex-NPA rebel: Hindi masama ang mining
Ipinaliwanag ni Senator Cynthia Villar sa isang dating miyembro ng New People’s Army (NPA) na hindi masama ang mining kung ito ay legal at responsableng isinasagawa.
Sa pagdinig ng Committee on Public Order, na pinamumunuan ni Sen. Ronald dela Rosa, ibinahagi ni Villar na siyam na milyong ektarya ng Pilipinas ang may “metal deposits,”
Aniya napakalahaging halaga nito at magagamit ng gobyerno para sa mga programa at pagbibigay serbisyo sa mamamayan.
“So there is nothing wrong with mining, the only wrong thing with mining is the illegal miners, the ones who don’t follow the law…It needs to be done in a legal way. It’s just necessary that the manner of doing it should be legal,” ayon sa namumuno sa Senate Committee on Environment.
Ginawa ni Villar ang paliwanag matapos marinig ang pagbubunyag ng dating rebelde na kabilang sa itinuturo sa kanila ay ang oposisyon sa mining dahil sa masamange epekto nito sa kalikasan at kabuhayan.
