Subscribers binalaan ng Globe sa scam, spam messages sa chat apps
Muling nagbigay babala ang Globe ukol sa nagpapatuloy na mga spam at scam messages sa pamamagitan ng chat apps o over-the-top (OTT) media services.
Maging sa hindi kilalang mobile numbers ay nagpapatuloy ang mga naturang uri ng panloloko.
Sinabi ni Anton Reynaldo Bonifacio, ang Chief Information Security Officer ng Globe, may mga ulat at reklamo sa kanila sa kabila ng paghihigpit sa mga regulasyon alinsunod sa SIM Registration Act.
Aniya ang mga manloloko ay gumagamit na ng OTT services para makaiwas sa spam filters ng telco network, kung saan marami ang gumagamit ng foreign numbers.
“OTT messages are not SIM-based and do not pass through telco networks. Therefore, we have no control over them. But what Globe can do is once we confirm that an OTT account associated with a Globe number has been used for fraud, we deactivate this SIM. It is important to note that many OTT accounts targeting Philippine mobile users use foreign SIMs, which are outside the scope of Philippine telcos,” sabi ni Bonifacio.
Kayat paalala niya: “This is why it is important for customers that use OTT services to be more vigilant. Never engage with chat messages from numbers they do not know, including those making various offers. Please block these numbers and report them to the chat app you’re using.
Ang Globe ay nangunguna sa pagsisikap ng industriya na puksain ang spam at scam messages, kung saan nakikipagtulungan ito sa mga ahensiya ng pamahalaan at sa iba’t ibang private sector partners para tuloy-tuloy na mapaigting ang paglaban sa panloloko sa mga lugar na nasa ilalim ng kanilang kontrol.
Bilang bahagi ng kanilang masigasig na proactive spam blocking, ang Globe ang unang telco na humarang sa lahat ng person-to-person (P2P) SMS na may clickable links sa network nito noong September 2022, isang hakbang na ipinatupad sa buong industriya noong nakaraang buwan ng National Telecommunications Commission.
Noong Setyembre ngayong taon, naharang ng Globe kabuuang 2.59 billion spam at scam messages, nag-deactivate ng 4,733 SIMs, at nag-blacklist ng150,287 na konektado sa SMS fraud.
