Banggaan sa WPS hindi mitsa sa paggamit sa Ph–US Mutual Defense Treaty
Hindi magsisilbing mitsa para magamit ang Philippine – United States Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT) sa banggaan ng mga sasakyang-pandagat ng Pilipinas at China sa West Philippine Sea kamakalawa.
“As stated in the MDT, an armed attack on a public vessel of the Philippines will be enough to trigger the Mutual Defense Treaty,” sabi ni National Security Council (NSC) Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya sa isang panayam sa telebisyon.
Dagdag pa niya dahil wala naman pag-atake kayat walang basehan para igiit ang MDT.
Naging epektibo ang MDT noong Agosto 30, 1951 at nakasaad sa tratado na sasaklolohan ng dalawang bansa ang isat-isa sa pag-atake ng ibang bansa.
