SP Migz Zubiri: SC decision wa epek sa werpa ng Senado
Walang epekto sa kapangyarihan ng lehislatura, ayon kay Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, ang desisyon ng Korte Suprema ukol sa pagpapatawag sa mga opisyal ng Ehekutibo sa pagdinig sa Senado.
Paliwanag ni Zubiri ang pagbasura sa petisyon ng Senado ay “procedural grounds” at hindi base sa “substantive grounds.”
“It considered the filing of the case as premature, saying that the jurisdictional issue raised by the Executive should have been first resolved by the Senate using its own Rules,” dagdag paglilinaw pa ni Zubiri.
Aniya sa naging desisyon kinilala pa ng SC ang kapangyarihan ng Kongreso na magsagawa ng pagdinig “in aid of legislation” kung mahalaga ito sa lehislasyon.
“We respect the Court’s decision and the body will discuss how to move forward with this. We will certainly study the decision and use it to strengthen our internal rules while preserving our Constitutional mandate,” dagdag pa ng senador.
Magugunita na hinamon ng Senado sa SC ang pagbabawal ni dating Pangulong Duterte sa mga miyembro ng kanyang gabinete na dumalo sa Senate hearings.
