Ugnayang Pilipinas at Sri Lanka palalakasin ni Pangulong Marcos Jr.

Nagkasundo sina Pangulong Marcos Jr. at Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Philippines Chanaka Harsha Talpahewa na palakasin pa ang ugnayan ng dalawang bansa.

Sa presentation of credentials ni Talpahewa sa Malakanyang, sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. na patuloy na isusulong ng administrasyon ang bilateral ties sa Sri Lanka.

“With the continuing hope that the relationship between our two countries, which has been an ongoing and long-standing relationship for [62] years is something that we will continue to develop and continue to make stronger,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.

“Both our countries are looking to the future to develop the economies of our countries and to make a better life for our people. And I believe that we can find ways to work together to the mutual benefit of both our countries,” dagdag pa nito.

Sinabi naman ni Talpahewa na dadalhin niya sa susunod na antas ang relasyon ng dalawang bansa.

“During my tenure of office, I look forward to working towards further consolidating and strengthening the warm and friendly relations between our two countries and taking it to the next level,” pahayag ni Talpahewa.

Noong nakaraang taon, nasa ika-75 na puwesto ang Sri Lanka bilang trading partner ng Pilipinas kung saan umaabot sa US$29.29 milyon ang total trade habang nasa US$8.80 milyon ang imports.

Kabilang sa mga top exports ng Pilipinas sa Sri Landa ang cereal preparations, flour, starch o milk, at pastry cooks’ products; miscellaneous chemical products; animal o vegetable fats at oils at cleavage products, prepared edible fats, animal o vegetable waxes; organic chemicals; paper and paperboard, and articles of paper pulp, paper, or paperboard;

Nasa 677 Filipinos ang nasa Sri Lanka noong 2022 karamihan ay nagtatrabaho bilang craft and related trade professionals, managers, plant at machine operators at assemblers, professionals, services at sales workers, skilled agricultural forestry at iba pa.
