Zubiri sinabing “fake news” na may confidential fund ang Senado
Tinawag na “fake news” ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri ang kumakalat na ulat na may “confidential fund” ang Senado.
“Walang confi funds ang Senado during my term. I don’t want it and I don’t need it!” ani Zubiri.
Bumuo at pinangungunahan ni Zubiri ang isang oversight committee na kikilatis sa confidential at intelligence funds ng ibat-ibang ahensiya ng gobyerno.
Layon nito na malaman kung talagang may pangangailangan sa “secret funds” ang ahensiya.
Samantala, itinanggi din ni Senate Sec. Rey Bantug na may confidential fund ang Senado.
Pag-amin na lamang niya na mayroon silang Extraordinary and Miscellaneous Expenses (EME) na P331.942 million.
“These social media posts are deliberately misleading and maliciously presented by some personalities who seek to malign and tarnish the reputation of the institution currently taking a long, hard look at the nature of CIFs and the government agencies that deserve to have them,” ang pahayag ng Senado.
Ipinaliwanag pa niya na ang EME ay para sa pagdaraos ng meetings, seminars, conferences, public relations, education at iba pang aktibidad.
Sinabi pa nito na nagkaroon ng alokasyon na confidential fund ang Senado, P100 million noong 2020 at 2021; at P50 million noong 2022, ngunit hindi naman nagasta ang mga ito.
