‘Pork barrel scam queen‘ Napoles lusot sa plunder, swak sa corruption
Pinawalang-sala ng Sandiganbayan ang negosyanteng si Janet Lim Napoles at si dating Association of Philippine Electric Cooperatives (APEC) Party-List Representative Edgar Valdez sa kasong plunder kaugnay sa maling paggamit ng Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
Ngunit napatunayan naman na guilty si Napoles sa siyam na bilang ng corruption of public offcial at si Valdez sa siyam na bilang ng direct bribery.
Ayon sa Sandiganbayan 5th Division kapos ang ebidensiya para mapatunayan ang pagkakasala ng dalawa sa kasong plunder.
Kapwa sila nasenstensiyahan ng pagkakakulong na dalawang taon at anim na buwan hanggang anim na taon at isang araw.
Pinagbabayad din sila ng multa na P26,996,700.
“The Court finds accused Edgar De Leon Valdez and Janet Lim Napoles [are] not guilty of plunder due to insufficient evidence proving that they had, through conspiracy, amassed, accumulated and or acquired at least 50 million pesos of PDAF funds through kickbacks and or commissions,” ang mababasa sa bahagi ng desisyon.
Kabilang si Valdez sa limang mambabatas na naakusahan ng plunder sa pamamagitan ng pekeng non-government organizations (NGOs) ni Napoles
