Tinawag na sinungaling ng Asian Peoples’ Movement on Debt and Development (APMDD) si US President Joe Biden.
Ito ay dahil sa bigo si Biden na tuparin ang pangako ng Amerika na tutuparin ang climate finance obligation sa mga residente sa Global South.
Ayon kay Lidy Nacpil, coordinator ng APMDD, isang malaking bully ang Amerika.
“We are ramping up efforts to demand the Biden administration to deliver its climate finance obligations to the peoples of the Global South,” pahayag ni Nacpil.
“The US government, represented by President Biden, is the biggest bully and blocker of climate action. Despite the worsening climate crisis, the US refuses to fulfil climate finance obligations while expanding its fossil fuel production and continuing its domestic fossil fuel subsidies,” dagdag ni Nacpil.
Kasabay nito, nagsagawa ng sabayang kilos protesta ang grupo sa ibat ibang bahagi ng mundo.
Kabilang na sa harap ng embahada ng Amerika sa Manila, Dhaka, Lahore at Kathmandu.
“We demand the US government to urgently deliver adequate, non-debt-creating, unconditional and predictable climate finance through the financial mechanisms under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change,” pahayag ni Nacpil.
