Pagtaas sa power, water bill discount sa senior citizens lusot sa House panel – Ordanes
Inanunsiyo ni Senior Citizen Partylist Representative Rodolfo Ordanes na aprubado na ng House Committee on Ways and Means ang panukalang pagbibigay ng 15 diskuwento sa bayarin sa tubig at kuryente ng senior citizens,
Nilinaw lamang din agad ni Ordanes na ang naturang diskuwento ay para lamang sa kabahayan na nakakakonsumo ng 100 kilowatts per hour at 30 cubic meters ng tubig kada buwan.
Ibinahagi ng mambabatas na itinaas ang ibibigay na diskuwento dahil isinantabi na ang panukalang VAT-exemption dahil mawawalan ng P3.1 bilyong kita ang gobyerno.
Kapalit aniya nito ang pagtaas sa 15 porsiyento mula sa 10 porsiyento sa bayarin sa konsumo sa tubig at kuryente.
“Overall, the revised approved unnumbered bill gives households with seniors a net gain because of the 15% discount. These households will have to update their electricity and water utility accounts to tell the utility companies that they have registered senior citizens among them so they can be eligible for the discount under the Expanded Senior Citizens law,” paliwanag pa ni Ordanes.
Sa kanyang sponsorship speech. iginiit ng namumuno sa House Committee on Senior Citizens na makakatulong ang diskuwento dahil marami sa mga nakakatandang populasyon sa bansa ang lubhang apektado ng mataas na halaga ng mga pangunahing bilihin.
