Revilla: Early retirement ng gov’t workers hindi masakit sa GSIS

Sinabi ni Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla na hindi makakasama sa Government Service Insurance Service (GSIS) kung ibaba sa 56 ang edad ng mga kawani ng gobyerno na maaring mag-optional retirement.

Sa pag-sponsor ni Revilla sa Senate Bill 2444 o ang Act Lowering the Optional Retirement Age of Government Workers from Sixty (60) Years to Fifty-Six (56) Years, binanggit niya na ito base sa mga naging pagdinig at pulong ng technical working group (TWG).

Aniya binalanse ng pinamumunuan niyang Committee on Civil Service, Government Reorganization and Professional Regulation, ang kapabilidad ng GSIS gayundin ang karapatan ng mga miyembro na makapag-retiro ng mas maaga.

Diin niya ang isinusulong niyang panukalang-batas ay tugon sa mga panawagan ng mga kawani ng gobyerno na kung mabibigyan lamang sila ng opsyon ay makapag-retiro ng mas maaga para mapakinabangan ang kanilang pagreretiro.

“After having heard our stakeholders’ positions on the matter, the committee deemed it prudent to report out this measure, which only seeks to lower the optional retirement age, while retaining the current mandatory retirement age of 65 years. This strikes the balance between giving our civil servants the option to retire earlier, while ensuring that the actuarial life of the GSIS remains protected,” sabi pa ni Revilla.
