WPS pinuputakti uli ng Chinese fishing vessels

Nabahala ang AFP – Western Mindanao Command (Wescom) nang maobserbahan ang pagdami muli ng Chinese fishing vessels (CFVs) sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Base sa aerial patrols noong Setyembre 6 at 7, pinakamaraming CFVs sa Rozul Reef at mayroon naman lima  sa Escoda Shoal at dalawa sa Baragatan Bank. Ayon sa Wescom nakakabahala ang presensiya ng CFVs dahil sa implikasyon nito sa maritime security, fisheries conservation, territorial integrity at marine environment preservation.  Noon lamang Agosto 24, may 33 CFVs ang namataan sa Rosul Reef, na nasa loob ng exclsuive economic zone (EEZ) ng bansa at nagsisilbing “marker” papalapit sa Ayungin Shoal. “The repeated swarming incidents in both Rozul Reef and Escoda Shoal emphasize the continuous violation of Philippine sovereign rights and jurisdiction in its western border,” ayon pa sa Wescom.
