Defense Sec. Gibo Teodoro lumusot, pinuri sa CA
Nagkaisa ang mga miyembro ng Commission on Appointments (CA) na bigyan kumpirmasyon ang ad interim appointment ni Gilberto Teodoro Jr. bilang kalihim ng Defense Department.
Kinilala ng ilan sa mga miyembro ng CA ang karanasan, kahusayan at dedikasyon ni Teodoro sa pamumuno sa kagawaran.
Ikinabilib at tiwala sila na matutupad ni Teodoro ang binanggit nitong pangarap na maging balanse ang pagpapanatili ng internal security at pagpapalakas ng external defense ng Pilipinas.
“The intensity of the need to focus on protecting our sovereignty and sovereign rights is paramount in the global race for resources and influence. There is a need for cognizance of sovereignty and sovereign rights. We need to principally use politics and diplomacy, backed up by a strong backbone of a strategic defense posture,” ani Teodoro nang hingiin ang kanyang naiisip ukol sa sitwasyon sa West Philippine Sea.
Pagbabahagi pa ni Teodoro, prayoridad niya ang modernisasyon ng Hukbong Sandatahan ng Pilipinas, gayundin ang pagsasaayos ng trust fund at pension system ng mga sundalo.
