Sinaksihan ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang paglagda ng Pilipinas at Korea sa Free Trade Agreement sa sidelines ng 43rd Association of Southeast Asian Summit and Related Summits sa Jakarta, Indonesia.
Sabi ni Pangulong Marcos kay South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, tiyak na lalo pang lalakas ang ugnayan ng dalawang bansa dahil sa naturang kasunduan.
“Well, the signing of the FTA is certainly a very big step in that regard. It can only be a successful arrangement for both our countries. I look forward to the expansion of the trade agreement between your country and mine,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.
“When I look at the involvement of Korea and the Philippines, I can say that the relationship between our two countries remains vibrant. And I think it is accelerating … I would like to take this opportunity to deepen further that relationship,” dagdag ng Pangulo.
Umaasa ang Pangulo na ang nilagdaang trade agreement ay sasaklawin ang government-to-government partnerships at private firms at private sector partners.
sinabi naman ni South Korean President Yoon na isang bagong milestone ang kasunduan.
“I’m really also eager to elevate our partnership to a strategic partnership as we have proposed the last time. And in this regard, I believe that the Korea-Philippines Free Trade Agreement signed later today will set another important milestone in our bilateral relations,” sabi ni Yoon kay Pangulong Marcos.
Ayon kay Yoon, palalawakin pa ng South Korea ang oportunidad sa mga overseas Filipino workers sa ilalim ng “employment permit system.”
