Pagdalo ni Pangulong Marcos sa ASEAN Summit, produktibo

 

Naging mabunga at produktibo ang pagdalo ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa 43rd Association of Southeast Asian Summit and Related Summits sa Jakarta, Indonesia.

Ito ay dahil naisulong ni Pangulong Marcos ang mga interes ng Pilipinas sa regional gatherings.

Labing dalawang Leaders’-Level Meetings ang dinaluhan ng Pangulo kabilang na ang sa Australia, Canada, China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, United States, at United Nations.

“In these meetings, I promoted and highlighted key interests in ASEAN, such as food and energy security, migrant workers protection, climate change, and digital transformation, issues that are of strategic importance to the Philippines,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.

“Fellow ASEAN Member States and some external partners highlighted the importance of a rules-based international order. They also maintain that ASEAN is a competitive and integrated regional economy, underpinned by the principle of Centrality,” dagdag ng Pangulo.

Dumalo rin ang Pangulo sa ASEAN Plus Three Summit kasama ang ASEAN Member States, China, Japan, at Republic of Korea kung saantinalakay ang usapin sa food security, climate change, digital economy, at iba pa.

Sa East Asia Summit, idiniga ni Pangulong Marcos ang usapin sa South China Sea.

“We discussed regional and international issues, during which I emphasized the importance of a rules-based international order, especially in the disputes in the South China Sea, inasmuch as they affect not only our nation but also the entire region,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.

“I reaffirmed that the Philippines is committed to the peaceful resolution of disputes and called on all countries to continue upholding freedom of navigation and overflight in the South China Sea in accordance with international law, including the 1982 UNCLOS,” dagdag ng Pangulo.

Hinikayat ng Pangulo ang mga kapwa lider sa ASEAN na huwag hayaan na may maghari-harian sa West Philippine Sea.

Nagkaroon din ng informal meeting si Pangulong Marcos kina US Vice President Kamala Harris at Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
