Ayon sa ulat ng Royal Thai Government Gazette, binawasan ang sentensya kay Thaksin at ginawa na lamang na isang taon sa halip na walong taon.
Ginawaran ng pardon si Thaksin kasabay ng pagbabalik sa Thailand matapos ang 15 taong self-imposed exile.
Sakay ng private jet, bumalik sa Thailand si Thaksin noong Agosto 22.
Agad ding dinala si Thaksin sa Police Hospital para sa medical treatment dahil sa sakit sa puso at baga.
“His Majesty the King, then, kindly gave him a royal pardon that cut his jail penalty to one year rather than eight years,” pahayag ng royal gazette.
Kinasuhan si Thaksin ng abuse of power at conflicts of interest.
Taong 2006 nang mapatalsik si Thaksin sa pamamagitan ng kudeta ng military.
Bumalik ng Thailand si Thaksin matapos malulok bilang prime minister si Srettha Thavisin.
Si Srettha ay miyembro ng Pheu Thai Party na itinatag ni Thaksin.
