Credible defense posture ng AFP napakahalaga giit ni Ejercito
Matindi na ang pangangailangan para sa isang tunay na modernong sandatahang-lakas.
Ito ang iginiit ni Deputy Majority Leader JV Ejercito bunsod na rin ng kasalukuyang sitwasyon sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Pagbabahagi ni Ejercito, may tatlong bahagi ang AFP Modernization Program at una ang Horizon 1 (2013 – 2017), kung saan 53 proyekto ang nakalinya ngunit 36 lamang ang naisakatuparan.
Sa Horizon 2 naman, sabi pa ng senador, ang layon nito ay may magkaroon na ng “minimum credible defense posture” ang Pilipinas noong 2018 hanggang 2022 ngunit sa inilistang 97 proyekto, 19 lamang ang naikasa,
Dagdag pa niya sa Horizon 3 naman ay dapat ay naikasa na nang husto ang programa.
“How important is it that we will be able to catch up on our modernization program which has been hampered by budget cuts and revolving door policy, among others?” tanong ni Ejercito.
Sinabi naman ni AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner na para maging malakas ang Pilipinas, kailangan ng malakas na hukbong-sandatahan.
“That is why it is very important that we modernize our Armed Forces of the Philippines not so that we could be at par with the developed countries. Our objective is really to be able to develop that credible defense,” sabi pa ni Brawner.
