Pagkasa ng SIM Registration Act ipinakakamusta ni Poe sa Senado
Nais ni Senator Grace Poe na malaman kung ano na ang naabot sa pagpapatupad ng SIM Registration Act makalipas ang isang taon simula nang ito ay maging batas.
Inihain ni Poe ang Senate Resolution No. 745 para mabusisi ng kinauukulang komite ang pagpapatupad ng batas.
Bunsod ito nang pagka-alarma ng senadora sa patuloy na pagkalat ng text scams, gayundin ang paggamit ng SIM sa operasyon ng mga illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
“The law aims to protect users from scams and hasten law enforcement in investigating phone-related scams. The registration of SIM should help unmask fraudsters and deny them of sanctuary to hide. But, are these being achieved?” tanong ng pangunahing author at sponsor ng batas.
Paalala ng namumuno ng Committee on Public Services, layon ng batas na matigil na ang text scams at mapanagot ang mga sangkot sa ilegal na paggamit ng SIM.
“However, reports that thousands of registered SIMs seized are being used as a tool for scamming and other cyber fraud raise questions about the effective implementation of the law,” dagdag pa ni Poe.
