Pangako ni PBBM na P20/kilo ng bigas malabo pa – NEDA
Aminado si National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan na mahirap na maabot ngayon ang P20 na presyo ng bigas kada kilo.
Sa pulong balitaan sa Malakanyang, sinabi ni Balisacan na hindi naman kakayanin ng isang gabi o overnight lamang na agad na maibaba ang presyo ng bigas.
Kailangan aniyang palakasin muna ang produksyon ng palay at mangyayari ito kung bibigyan ng sapat na ayuda ang mga magsasaka, maayos ang irigasyon at iba pa.
Inihalimbawa ni Balisacan ang mga kalapit na bansa sa Thailand, Indonesia at Vietnam na mataas ang produksyon ng palay at mababa ang presyo ng bigas.
Dapat aniyang ginawa na ng gobyerno ang pagtulong sa mga magsasaka noon pa para hindi nahuhuli ang Pilipinas.
“But we are not looking just at this time period – we are looking at the sustainability, we are looking at the medium term for us. The Marcos administration—look at Ambisyon Natin 2040 as its peg for its medium-term plan ‘no. Iyong Ambisyon Natin 2040 that said the prosperity, the inclusive prosperity, the shared prosperity that we all want by 2040. But that progress has to be sustained over the next two more administrations after the Marcos administration. So, ganoon iyong catch-up that we as a country need to do to join the ranks of our neighbors,” pahayag ni Balisacan.
