Laguna de Bay tragedy nag-ugat sa pagkukulang – Poe
Sinabi ni Senator Grace Poe na dapat ay tinitiyak ng gobyerno na nasusunod ang mga polisiya at alintuntunin sa pagbiyahe ng mga sasakyang pantubig para sa kaligtasan ng mga pasahero.
Sa pagdinig ng Senate Committee on Public Services ukol sa nangyaring trahedya sa Laguna de Bay, ipinunto ni Poe ang mga naging kapabayaan sa pagpapatupad ng maritime safety standards.
“Maraming pagkukulang na dapat matagal nang tinugunan. It should not have cost us 27 lives for our maritime authorities to realize these implementation gaps. In a country composed of thousands of islands, Philippines should have the highest safety standards in water transportation,” aniya.
Pagtitiyak niya na ang pagdinig ay para mapanagot ang mga responsable sa kamatayan ng 27 pasahero ng lumubog na M/B Aya Express.
“Alam nating hindi lamang iisang tao ang may pagkakasala at dapat managot dito. This is a systemic failure borne out of the lack of proper implementation of existing maritime safety laws,” dagdag pa ni Poe.
Kinuwestiyon din niya ang ginagamit na pamantayan sa pagdetermina sa kaligtasan ng mga bumibiyaheng bangka.
