Marcos: Foreign policy, hindi hawak ng lehislatura

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA—Nasa kamay ng ehekutibo ang pagpapasya kung iaangat na sa United Nations General Assembly ang ginagawang aggression ng China sa West Philippine Sea. Tugon ito ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa hirit ni Senador Risa Hontiveros na dapat na gumawa ng resolusyon ang Department of Foriegn Affairs para idulog ang pananalakay ng China. Sabi ni Pangulong Marcos, hindi legislature ang nagpapasya sa foreign policy. “Generally speaking, foreign policy is not set by the legislature. Generally speaking, foreign policy is left up to the Executive,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos. “So, I mean – of course, the senator is free to file whatever resolution she wants. But I do not know how that will translate to any action that will reach the United Nations General Assembly,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos. Sinabi pa ng Pangulo na ang gobyerno at hindi ang parte lamang nito ang hinahanap ng United Nations. “The United Nations entertains governments, not parts of government, not the judiciary of one government or the Executive of one government. They deal with governments,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos. Ilang beses nang nakaranas ng pangugulo mula sa China ang mga Filipinong mangingisda na pumapalaot sa West Philippine Sea.
