Inagurasyon na ang susunod na seremonya sa ginagawang sariling gusali ng Senado sa Taguig City.
Kasunod ito ng isinagawang “Topping Off” ceremony kaninang umaga na dinaluhan nina Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda, Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, Sens. Nancy Binay, Cynthia Villar, Christopher Go, at Ronald dela Rosa.
Dumalo din sina dating Senate President Vicente Sotto III, dating Sen. Ping Lacson at Batangas Rep. Ralph Recto.
Paliwanag ni Binay, ang namumuno sa Senate Committee on Accounts, on-target ang partial operations ng bagong gusali sa Hulyo 2024.
“May instruction kasi si Senate President Zubiri to conduct the opening of Session next year sa Bagong Senado,” aniya.
“Ang topping-off ay isang tradition na ginagawa para gunitain ang pagkumpleto sa structural frame ng isang building sa pamamagitan ng pagkabit ng huling structural beam nito,” dagdag pa niya.
Layon ng New Senate Building na mapabilang sa mga unang “green building- certified government facilities” sa Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence (BERDE) Program.
“In the face of climate change the government should walk the talk in promoting the use of sustainable structures,” sabi pa ni Binay.
Nabuo ang plano para sa bagong gusali noong 2016.
