Maghahain ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) ng motion for reconsideration (MR) ukol sa naging desisyon at himukin ang Korte Supema na maisagawa ang susunod na Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) sa 2026.
Paliwanag ni Comelec Chairman George Garcia bibigyan katuwiran lamang nila na pag-aralan ng SC ang kanilang naging desisyon.
Partikular aniya ang idineklara ng SC na ang susunod na BSKE ay sa Disyembre 2025 at gagawin kada tatlong taon na.
“The SC’s pronouncement will result in the conduct of two nationwide electoral exercises within the same year. Thus, the implementation of R.A. No. 11935 prior to its declaration of unconstitutionality and the subsequent reversal to the periods set in Republic Act No. 11462 will cause the unintended effect of shortening the term of the barangay and officials to merely two years,” ani Garcia.
Aniya ang layon ng RA 11462 ay isagawa ang halalan kada tatlong taon at itakda ang termino ng mga barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan officials ng tatlong taon.
Paglilinaw pa niya hindi na nila iaapila ang naging desisyon ng SC na labag sa Saligang Batas ang RA 11935, na nag-urong sa BSKE sa darating na Oktubre.
Hinihintay na rin aniya na lamang nila ang posisyon ng Office of the Solicitor General sa naging desisyon ng Kataastaasang Hukuman.
