CBCP umalma na rin sa paglapastangan sa ‘Ama Namin,’ ‘Nazareno’

Binatikos ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) ang paggamit ng Christian image at religious hymn ng grupong Drag Queen Philippines.

Ayon kay Fr. Jerome Secillano, executive secretary ng CBCP Episcopal Commission on Public Affairs, hayagang pangbabastos ang ginawa ng Drag Queen. “People should be extremely prudent in their actions, especially with regards to using elements of religion and faith for secular purposes. If not used properly, such actions border on mockery and profanity,” pahayag ni Secillano. Base sa viral video, ginaya ng performer na si Pura Luka Vega ang Black Nazarene at ginawang upbeat ang kantang “The Lord’s Prayer.” “Dancing to the tune of a sacred and biblical prayer, with matching sacred costume to boot, is completely disrespectful not only of people and institutions practicing such faith but of God Himself,” aniya. Dagdag pa nito: “Faith and sacred objects are not for entertainment purposes. They are useful for channeling our deepest desire to have recourse to the Divine.”
