Tiniyak ni Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva na babantayan ng Senado kung matatamo ang layon ng SIM Registration Law na bawasan at labanan ang “cyber crimes.”

Hanggang sa darating na Hulyo 25 na lamang ang pagpaparehistro ng “activated SIM” at ang mga hindi maipaparehistro ay made-“deactivate.”

“Nonetheless, we urge the NTC, PNP, and other relevant agencies, as well as our partners in the private sector, to ramp up information campaigns on the various schemes used to trick our citizens into losing their hard-earned money,” ani Villanueva.

Dagdag pa ng senador maari din na pag-aralan sa Senado ang iba pang mga batas, gaya ng Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, upang mapalakas pa ito kasabay na rin ng paglaganap ng “online scams.”

“In fact, we filed Senate Resolution No. 641 which seeks to look into unauthorized and unregistered Online Lending Platforms that have been harassing borrowers through abusive collection schemes. Hindi lamang po sapat na mahuli ang mga salarin, dapat rin silang mapatawan ng karampatang parusa,” sabi pa ng senador.
