Ikinalugod ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. ang pangako ng Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. (MUFG) na tumulong sa Pilipinas ukol sa paggamit na ng renewable energy.
Sa courtesy call ni MUFG Chairman Mike Kanetsugu kay Pangulong Marcos Jr., sa Malakanyang, nagpasalamat ang una sa tulong ng naturang kompanya at aniya masyadong sensitibo ang Pilpinas sa climate change situation. “We are also very conscious of our situation in the Philippines wherein we are very sensitive to climate change. It is very important that we play also a part to move the balance of renewables and fossil fuels more and more in favor of renewables,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos. “Energy transition is a very, very important agenda I consider for this country. We are providing with financing, and we work for various transition projects that will contribute to successful transition of energy structure [in the Philippines],” sagot naman ni Kanetsugu. Kasama rin sa courtesy call sina Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) President at Chief Executive Officer Michael De Jesus at Senior Vice President Ronaldo Tepora. Dumalo rin sina Security Bank Corporation Interim Chairman Cirilo Noel, Executive Vice President, Director Juichi Umeno at Director Maria Cristina Tingson. Una nang nakipag-partner ang MUFG sa Security Bank sa pamamagitan ng Memorandum of Understanding with the Board of Investments noong 2018 pata mai-konekta ang local Filipino businesses sa Japanese investors sa pamamagitan ng business matching activities. Isa rin ang MUFG sa nagbibigay ng bank guarantee requirements sa Department of Transportation (DOTr) at Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) para sa masuportahan ang mga infrastructure projects gaya ng North South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Project at Metro Manila Subway Project. Pinopondohan ang dalawang proyekto ng Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).READ NEXT
