Walang pag-apruba ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ang pagbili ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ng isang bulletproof sports utility vehicle (SUV) sa halagang P7.8 milyon.
Ito ang pagsisiwalat ng Commission on Audit (COA) base sa annual audit report at nabatid na binili ang Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 4.0 V6 Gas ng P4,999,000 at ginastusan ng P2.8 million para sa bulletproofing.
Ang halaga ay mula sa fuel rebates ng PCG mula sa Petron Corp.
Nakabili din ang PCG ng karagdagang 31 brand new 2023 Isuzu MUX LS-A 4×2 sa halagang P58.9 milyon.
Binaggit din ng COA na base sa 2018 Administrative Order No. 14 ipinagbabawal sa sa alinmang ahensiya ng gobyerno ang pagbili ng luxury vehicles para sa kanilang operasyon.
Paliwanag naman ng PCG kailangan nila ng SUV para sa ligtas na pagbiyahe ng kanilang Commandant na sinagot naman ng COA na PCG ay mayroon ng 459 service vehicles.
“Considering the total number of motor vehicles owned by the PCG, the necessity of acquiring new vehicles to utilize the rebates from Petron Corporation cannot be adequately established,” ayon pa sa COA.
Dapat humingi muna ng pag-apruba ng DBM ang PCG sa pagbili ng bulletproof SUV alinsunod na rin sa Administrative Order No. 14.
