Marcos: Wala pang deal sa pagtanggap sa Afghan nationals

Wala pang ginagawang pakikipagkasundo si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa Amerika para tanggapin sa bansa ang mga Afghan nationals. Sa ambush interview kay Pangulong Marcos sa Paranaque City, sinabi nito na patuloy pang pinag-aaralan ang impact ng pagtanggap sa Afghan nationals. “Well, there are many issues involved in that question that is why I was really surprised when I saw some of the news reports saying there’s a deal between the US and the Philippines. We are still looking exactly at how to make it work if we can.  will find a way to make it happen, ” pahayag ng Pangulo. “But we have a long tradition in the Philippines of taking in refugees although these are not refugees, they are an entirely different class of persons, they are Afghan nationals who are being settled by the United States in the United States and for other places. We are only going to be a transition area. Dadalhin sila dito, ire-relocate sila. Ang sabi ng mga kaibigan nating Amerikano, tingnan nila hindi palalampasin ng isang libong tao doon sa ating kung sakaling man ay matutuloy itong reuqest na ito, ” pahayag ng Pangulo. Sabi ng Pangulo, dapat na maging maingat ang Pilipinas sa naturang usapin. “So, there are many security issues. Of course we have to be conscious of that. But there are even more difficult legal and logistical issues. Because if the plan as it stands runs exactly as it is planned, di maganda, wala tayong problema. But what plan even ran exactly as it is planned. What if something goes wrong?” sabi ng Pangulo. “We want to help. ito kasi ang mga Afghan na tumulong sa mga Amerikano noong giyera. Tapos biglang umalis ang mga Amerikano, naiwan iyon. Ang katotohanan pinapatay talaga sila ng kalaban kaya inaaalalayan nila itong mga. Pero iindi nga sila refugee, iba nga ito. This is something different, this is something we have not encountered before. They are Afghans whoa re being resettled primarily in the United Stets and we are going to be the third country, that is the proposal of the United States. We will continue to study. Let’s see if there is a way we can do it without endagering the security of the Philippines, ” pahayag ng Pangulo. Matatandaang mismong si  US President Joe Biden ang humiling kay Pangulong Marcos na tanggapin ang Afghan refugees. Ginawa ng dalawang lider ang lag-uusap nang magkaroon ng state visit si Pangulong Marcos sa Washington noong Mayo. Sa panig ng Department of Justice, sinabi nito na pinag-aaralan pa ang legalidad ng pagtanggap ng Afghan nationals.
