Dagdag buwis sa junk food at sweet drinks pang-iwas sa mga sakit

Sinabi ni Finance Secretary Ben Diokno na ang karagdagang buwis sa mga junk food at matatamis na inumin ay para na rin mabawasan ang mga kaso ng diabetes at labis na katabaan. Gayundin aniya ang mga non-communicable diseases na iniuugnay sa “poor diet.” “Under the proposed tax program, the DOF plans to impose a ₱10 per 100 grams or ₱10 per 100 milliliters tax on pre-packaged foods lacking nutritional value, including confectioneries, snacks, desserts, and frozen confectioneries, that exceed the DOH’s specified thresholds for fat, salt, and sugar content,” ani Diokno.

Samantalang, plano na patawan ng karagdagang P12 ang bawat litro ng matatamis na inumin dahil na rin sa Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law.

Ayon kay Diokno. karagdagang P76 bilyon buwis ang masisingil at mababawasan din ng 21 porsiyento ang konsumo sa “junk food.”
