Hinikayat ni Senator Pia Cayetano ang mga ina na pakinggan at sumunod sa payo ng medical professionals at health workers ukol sa kahalagahan ng mga bakuna ng kanilang mga anak.
Kasabay nito, hinikayat niya mga magulang na huwag pansinin ang “fake news” kasama na mga walang basehan na alegasyon na ipinapakalat sa social media.
Si Cayetano ang principal sponsor ng Mandatory Infants and Children Health Immunization Act of 2011 o ang RA 10152.
“When I visit communities and speak with mothers, I raise important topics like vaccination for their children. It was on the news just the other day that cases of measles in our country are on the rise and it breaks my heart whenever I hear about children dying of measles” ani Cayetano.
Binanggit nito ang datos mula sa Department of Health (DOH) na lumubo ng 339 porsiyento ang kaso ng tigdas sa bansa hanggang noong Mayo 20.
Pagbabahagi niya nawala sa kanya ang kanyang anak dahil sa sakit na Trisomy 13, na aniya ay walang gamot.
“Listen to the doctors and the health workers to know what’s best for your children. It’s heartbreaking to lose a child. I’ve lost a child. So that has always been my message and it hasn’t changed. Basic yan: immunization,” bilin nito sa mga nanay.
