Food & Drug Administration may babala sa sumisikat na laruang lato-lato
Nagpalabas ang Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ng babala sa maaring masamang epekto sa kalusugan ng “glow-in-the-dark” lato-lato, ang bagong kinagigiliwang laruan ngayon ng mga bata.
Nabatid na ang naturang laruan ay hindi dumaan sa quality and safety evaluation ng ahensiya.
Napag-alamanan na lamang ng FDA ang pagsikat ng laruan nang magsagawa ng postmarketing surveillance at lumabas na wala itong Certificate of Product Notification hanggang noong Hunyo 5
Ito ay paglabag sa FDA Act of 2009 dahil ang paggawa, importasyon, pagbenta, distribusyon at promosyon ng mga produkto ng walang awtorisasyon ay ipinagbabawal.
“Since the abovementioned unnotified toy and childcare article product has not gone through the notification process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure their quality and safety. The use of such violative product may pose health risks to consumers,” nakasaad pa sa inilabas ng FDA.
Binanggit din na ang mga ganitong uri ng laruan ay maaring magdulot ng endocrine disruption, reproductive or developmental effects, injury, choking, oo suffocation dahil sa mga maliliit na bahagi nito.
