Koko nanawagan na huwag ituloy ang toll hike sa NLEX
Umapila si Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III sa Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) at sa North Luzon Express NLEX) Corporation na huwag munang ipatupad ang provisional increase sa bayad sa paggamit ng NLEX.
Katuwiran ni Pimentel, lumalala ang trapiko sa naturang expressway at mataas pa rin ang mga bilihin at serbisyo sa bansa.
“In behalf of the hundreds of thousands of motorists plying the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), I appeal for some considerations and reprieve on the proposed increased toll rates. Our people are grappling with the effects of inflation and, therefore, implementing a toll increase at these challenging times would exacerbate their economic hardships,” sabi ng senador.
Unang inaprubahan ng TRB ang karagdagang P7 para sa Class 1 vehicles sa open system ng NLEX epektibo sa Huwebes, Hunyo 15, samantalang P17 ang dagdag sa Class 2 vehicles at P19 para sa Class 3 vehicles.
Ang dagdag singil ay para sa mga papasok sa Balintawak Toll Plaza sa Caloocan City at Mindanao Avenue hanggang sa Marilao Toll Plaza sa Bulacan.
Samantala, karagdagang P26 (Class 1), P65 (Class 2) at P11 (Class 3) mula sa Marilao hanggang sa Sta. Ines sa Mabalacat City sa Pampanga.
“Any increase at this point would be unjustifiable and unfair to the motorists who have to deal with sometimes EDSA-like traffic on the expressway, specifically from Balintawak to Meycauayan. Bago sila humingi ng dagdag na bayad, ayusin muna nila ang trapik sa NLEX. I call on the management of NLEX to address this perennial traffic buildup on our major expressway,” diin ni Pimentel.
Panawagan nito sa TRB na unahin ang interes ng publiko at tiyakin na makatuwiran lamang ang sinisingil na toll.
Nabatid na 280,000 sasakyan ang dumadaan sa NLEX kada araw.
