Pag-aalburuto nadagdagan, Alert Level 2 itinaas sa Bulkan Mayon
Mula sa Alert Level 1 itinaas ngayon umaga sa Alert Level 2 ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) ang sitwasyon sa Bulkang Mayon dahil sa tuminding pag-aalburuto.
Base sa 10am bulletin, sinabi ng Phivolcs na ang pag-aalburuto ay bunga ng “shallow magmatic processes” na maaring humantong sa “phreatic eruptions” o “hazardous magmatic eruption.”
“The public is strongly advised to be vigilant and desist from entering the six kilometer-radius permanent danger zone to minimize risks from sudden explosions, rockfall and landslides. In case of ash fall events that may affect communities downwind of Mayon’s crater, people should cover their nose and mouth with a damp, clean cloth or dust mask,” ang abiso ng Phivolcs.
Nadagdagan din ang rockfall events mula sa bibig ng bulkan mula noong Abril at ito ay mula sa lima sa isang araw ay naging 49 sa nakalipas na 24 oras.
“A total of 318 rockfall events have been recorded by the Mayon Volcano Network since April 1, 2023, while 26 volcanic earthquakes have been recorded for the same period,” ayon pa sa Phivolcs,
Tumaas din ang antas ng ibinubigang sulfur dioxide mula sa 576 tonelada kada araw ay naging 162 tonelada na noong Mayo 23.
