Degassing ng Bulkang Taal lumalakas – Phivolcs

Iniulat ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) ang lumalakas na degassing activity fmula sa Taal Volcano simula noong gabi ng nakaraang Sabado.

Ayon pa sa Phivolcs kapansin-pansin din ang pagtaas ng volcanic fluids na nagdudulot ng usok na umaangat hanggang 3,000 metro mula sa bibig ng bulkan.

Ito ay nagdudulot ng smog o “vog” sa ibabaw ng Taal Caldera.

Ang vog ay patak na may sulfur dioxide, na acidic volcanic gas na delikado sa mga mata at lalamunan at sensitbo para sa mga buntis, may edad, bata at mga may hika, sakit sa baga at puso.

Naiulat ang vog sa mga bayan ng  Balete, Laurel, at Agoncillo, pawang sa Batangas.

“A total of 5,831 tonnes/day of volcanic sulfur dioxide or SO2 gas emission from the Taal Main Crater was recorded last 1 June 2023, which was higher than last month’s average of 3,556 tonnes/day,” sabi pa ng ahensiya patukoy sa mga aktibidad sa bulkan.

Nanatili naman na nakataas ang Alert Level 1 sa Bulkang Taal, nangangahukugan na ito ay nasa abnormal na kondisyon at nanatili ang banta ng pagsabog.
